Dedicated Woman Review and Giveaway

Here is a little about Dedicated Woman, from their site:

Dedicated Woman was born out of a passion to make a difference in women’s long-term health through the use of pure, balanced and quality nutrition.

All of our products are unmatched in purity, efficiency and absorbability. We do this through our commitment to unsurpassed quality in our processing and testing, our integrity and more importantly, our commitment to your health. Our standards go well beyond the typical regulatory processes. Our doctors, scientists and dietitians develop innovative formulations that provide specific nutritional support based on the latest industry research.

Today, we remain one of the few companies that actually manufacture the vitamins we distribute, and the only one in its class for uncompromising quality. You can feel safe in trusting our products because we exceed current quality standards for nutritional products.

I got to review their vanilla whey protein powder. Their protein powder is formulated especially for women, and is really good for you. It has lots of protein, calcium, phosphorus and more stuff your body craves, but is low in carbs and calories! It doesn’t get much better than that. It’s a perfect substitute for a meal. Rather than eating fast food or skipping eating all together, just mix yourself up a shake and you’re good to go!

Ignoring all of the amazing nutritional content, you know what the best part about it is? It tastes really super good! I got to try the vanilla, and it tastes like a vanilla milkshake, only not as thick. I really enjoy the flavor, and knowing that it has fantastic nutrients for my body only helps!

Pingo Review

Pingo is a pre-paid calling card service that offers really good rates on international and domestic long distance calls, along with unbeatable quality, simplicity and convenience. And unlike some other calling cards, there are no hidden charges or fees with Pingo international phone cards — just a nominal monthly maintenance fee.

If you make a lot of long distance calls, especially to outside of this country, Pingo is a great way to go. I don’t have many relatives that live too far from me, but I do have some, so when I call them I plan to use Pingo. To place a call, you just call your local access number, enter your account number and your PIN [you have to set that up first], then the country code and the phone number, and then hit #.

Something great they offer is a scheduled charge to your credit card to add more time to your calling card. If you are on a set budget but make a lot of long distance calls, this could be a great option! You can set your limit each month and plan for that charge to happen. Great for budgeting!

Buy it!
You can check Pingo out here. Or, you can fill a form out to get a free calling card to try it out here.

You guys should know all about Tropical Traditions by now! Remember, that super cool company that sells all things organic? Here are a couple of posts for you to recall here and here. And a video about their company for you to partake in here!

This time, I am shouting from the rooftops how amazing their raw organic honey is! It’s SO freaking good! All I can say is, if you don’t win this giveaway, please buy some. And when it arrives, get a piece of wheat bread [I like honey oat] and lay some honey on it. Then dig in. MolliCoolz Review and Giveaway

MolliCoolz is this super cool company that makes pelletized ice cream. What does that mean, you ask? It means that they are itty bitty dots of ice cream! There is another company out there that does this same thing, I won’t mention the name, but they haven’t figured out how to get it into cool little dots but still only have to be at regular freezer temperatures. MolliCoolz knows the secret! Their ice cream is freaking awesome and tastes great and you can buy it in the grocery store. SUPER cool!

I got to review this cool product from MolliCoolz called Shakers. Before I tell you about Shakers, are you sitting down? This news may blow your mind. Shakers are a big plastic cup-like container full of the really awesome MolliCoolz ice cream. You add milk [there’s even a window to tell you how much] and shake the living daylights out of it, and BOOM! You’ve got a milkshake! No mess, no blender, no worry. Just plain fabulousness. OMG not only is it one of the coolest things ever, they are soooooooooo yummy. I’m thinking this may be the best idea anyone has ever had. EVER. And you know what I did? I took the vanilla Shaker and I added Pepsi. I’m thinking, Pepsi + vanilla ice cream = heaven in my mouth. It was just that! But, do you know what happens when you shake Pepsi? Yah, it foams. Big time. It was a little messy but totally worth it. I am going to buy more so I can try it with orange juice or maybe try adding some fresh fruit and then milk... The possibilities are endless.

Buy it!
You can purchase any of the great items from MolliCoolz in quite a few gas stations [like, all 7-11 locations] and grocery stores around the country.

Win it!
MolliCoolz has generously offered TWO of my fabulous readers a 4-pack of Shakers!

Big Eyed Dummies Review

Big Eye Dummies are hilarious designer plush toys. The age range on the package says “For ages 2 to immature adults” [although, the site says they are approved for all ages but recommended for ages 2 and up]. I guess that puts me in the ‘immature adult’ category! All of the dolls are wacky looking creatures, and even come with 2 sets of interchangeable eyes and mouths so you can play with the way they look. All of their toys are tested and comply with the American AND European toy safety standards, so you don’t have to worry about the safety of the funny little creature. They even received the Creative Child magazine’s Preferred Choice Award! That’s pretty spectacular.

My little bunny, Hanna Hopper, came in a plastic bag with one set of eyes and a mouth sewn down [the other set was in a little baggie just waiting to be played with]. All I had to do was snip the threads, and then it was onto the fun! The faces are absolutely hilarious and they just magnet down, so it’s really easy to switch them out. Turbo really enjoys chasing the eyes down the hallway and Punk thinks it is hysterical to put a mouth in an eye place or vice-versa. We’re having a lot of fun with it!

Big Eye Dummies is also giving away a free doll every month! If you want to enter their contests, become a fan of Big Eye Dummies on Facebook. You can get all the details by following that link.

Give Me A Break

So the title sounds a little forceful, right? Oh well, I'm sure you'll learn to deal with it. :)

I am going on a mini-vacation and am not sure when I'll be back but it should be Friday...? Who really knows. But, I do have an awesome review scheduled to post tomorrow so you need to come back and check that out. Also, while I'm gone I expect to get a bunch of entries into every giveaway going on; please don't disappoint me! :`( See that tear? That's for all the ignored giveaways. Okay, I probably need this mini-vacay. LOL

For all of you in Utah this lovely weekend, have a good Pioneer Day! I'll "see" you all when I return Friday. Or Saturday. Or even tomorrow, if the bikes blow up!

Idea Designs Giveaway

Idea Designs is this cute Etsy shop that makes cards and jewelry, among other fun things. Here is a little about the owner, Candinea.

I am a stay-at-home mom of two wonderful little girls. I go to school full time and enjoy crafting. I opened up Idea Designs because I am in love with the idea of creating for other people and helping them turn their ideas into designs. I really enjoy making cards and love to see the look on people’s faces as they open them up. Sending a card is such a personal way to brighten someone’s day and I really like being a part of brightening someone’s day. I also craft handmade jewelry which I have been doing for 12 years. I find it extremely relaxing and love the look of melted glass. I hardly get to post any of my jewelry creations because they are grabbed up by everyone I know very quickly.

By The Book Kids Review and Giveaway

By The Book Kids is all about making sure whoever is watching your children is prepared for your children. This book ROCKS! It’s a gigantic book filled with pages about your kids. Do you ever feel like, after you’ve dropped your kid[s] off at the babysitter’s house, there was something uber-important that you may have forgotten to tell them? Maybe your kid needs a sippy cup before naptime? Or, in my case when I was little, can’t fall asleep without their blankie? By The Book Kids will take care of all of that! And, not only is it great for a babysitter, but if you have your kids in a daycare all day long, this is amazing for that too.

There are pages for your child’s weekly routine, daily routine, allergies and special needs, school information, extra-curricular activity information, all about what they love and hate, disciplinary notes [AWESOME! Not everyone disciplines their kids the same way], notes about your house [if they come to your house to watch the littles], I could go on for days! Anything you could ever want your babysitter to know is included in this book.

Seeing as how we only have Punk three weekends of the month, we don’t send her off to the babysitters all that much. We typically try to spend as much time with her as we can when we’ve got her. But, every once in awhile we do drop her off at the MIL’s or my mom’s for a few hours, and I know I would feel a lot better about leaving this with them. I know I turned out [mostly] okay, but sometimes I still worry… I got to review an e-copy, which I actually prefer. Nowadays, everyone’s got e-mail, and this way you can e-mail it to anyone who takes care of the littles and still keep your copy at home – no worrying about misplacing the book or leaving it with one sitter and then not having it for the next.

Buy it!
You can purchase this super cool book here. Enter BTBK7757 as the coupon code, and get 25% off the hardbound book!

And Now For Something Completely Different

I just have a few random things to say. We're going to call this, bullet-point thoughts. Ready? Okay, go.

  • Saying [typing] 'okay, go' reminded me that I used to say this all the time and Aish and I even bought a CD once by the band OK GO just because it was named that, and it was even before they got semi-popular.
  • Husband and I spent all day yesterday picking out and picking up a new HOT TUB!!!! It is already installed and heating up as I write this. We got in last night when it was a brisk 76 degrees just because we wanted to try it out! Note to self: 76 degrees is unacceptable to get into at midnight.
  • I got invited to a Utah Bloggers retreat on the 31st and I'm SO ecstatic to go. I get to hang out with all the girls I met at Moms Who Make It. Woo!
  • If any of my pro-blogger friends out there can be in Utah on the 31st, let me know and I can get you an invite. You have to be a pro-blogger and you have to have Twitter. :)
  • I had lots of things to tell you all and I've forgotten most of them. Damn staying at home for turning my brain to mush.
  • Oh yah - I passed two super big milestones [to me at least] - I passed 10,000 hits [forever ago, actually] and also passed 200 followers!
  • Much love to all my new followers. If I haven't visited your blog, please feel free to slap me on the forehead. Or just leave me a comment so I can check you out!
  • Would you all like a giveaway at 250 followers? Just from me? If so, let me know what you would like to win! Mmmkay?

I think that's all. For now, at least. I should probably go take that ADHD pill; today seems like a bad day. LOL

I expect to hear from you guys on this one! Come on, you leave me a comment, I'll leave you a comment [if you have a blog that has posts and are accessible to the general public].

K thanx bye!

Moms Who Make It 2009

Oh. My. Gosh. This was one of the most amazing events I have ever been to! I learned so much and met so many amazing and absolutely beautiful women. It was incredible! I'm really bad at remembering to take pictures, but here are some of the day.

This class was presented by Raw Melissa, who is seriously a Super Mom! She does meals for people that are fresh and super healthy. I learned that for your body to be at its best, you need to eat at least 51% raw foods. WOW - I had no idea it was that high. I love raw foods though, so I hope I'm good on that front!

She blended us up an amazing green smoothy. It had spinach, mango, orange juice and berries and tasted absolutely fantastic. You couldn't taste the spinach at all, and it was purple so you could totally trick your kids [or the Husband in my case, he's the no-veggie eater] into getting their veggies! Awesome.

After that class, I went to a class about make-up and taking care of our faces. The lovely model is Vanessa, from I Never Grew Up.

I learned so much cool stuff during the make-up portion! Awesomeness.

p.s. Vanessa looked so pretty after it was all done! :)

After learning so much about make-up and all that jazz, we got to my favorite part. The blogger panel with the Sexy Six! From left to right:
Holly from Phe|Mom|Enon [pretend she's looking at the camera, mmkay?]
Lauren from Super Mom Central
Evonne from Sell, party of...

Again, from left to right:
Evonne again [hi Evonne!]
Jones from Keeping Up With M.O.M. [who I totally owe my soul to because she's the reason I got to go to this amazing event!]
April from Sweet Life In The Valley
Vanessa from I Never Grew Up

Let me just tell you, these girls were SO wonderful and nice and amazing and gorgeous. There are certain bloggers out there who are really popular and it seems like it gets to their head; NOT these girls! They are wonderful. I love them all. :) Plus, I learned so much in that class. It was fantastic.

After that, we got to eat this amazing lunch provided by Normandie and it was killer, but I forgot to take any pictures. Just know it was phenomenal!

After lunch was a class about SEO, which I was really grateful for. I learned a ton in this class about how to basically make yourself more attractive to Google robots! And I definitely needed to spruce up some. Those robots need to see more of me.

Can I say after a few more times? I could, but I won't. We had some time to browse the sponsors and then I left, waaaaaaaaaaaaay before I wanted to. I wanted to stay all night and hit the after-party but because I didn't win tickets until the day before, I didn't really have time to schedule myself an entire day away from home. Oh well, I am seriously hoping there will be a next year. I could even do a next month, but I know how hard it must have been to plan and coordinate the entire event so I will just be happy with it ever happening again!

Thanks to all of the amazing women that were there - not just the sexy six but seriously all of the girls that I met, those that I didn't meet - everyone was fabulous.

Okay, longest post EVER. Bye now!

Skin Free Review and Giveaway

Skin Free is an incredible company that sells all sorts of skin care products. They are 100% natural and 100% non-toxic (as per Environmental Working Group evaluation). For real, any type of skin issue you have, they have something for! Got eczema? They have a soap & shampoo bar and moisture spritz for that. Got wrinkles? They have a cream for that. Just plain want amazing skin? They have something for that, too! The products were developed by a pharmacist, for all of you to enjoy. They are free from toxins, irritants, fragrances, colorants, petroleum derivatives, and animal products. Plus, they are not expensive at all!

I was able to review the Skin Free whipped tamanu body butter and the sweet & smooth sugar scrub. Both were incredible. First, let’s talk about their body butter. You guys should know something about me – I’m a bit of a lotion addict. I have to put lotion on after I shower, after I wash my hands, after basically anything that gets my skin wet. So I have a lot of lotion around my house. This is now the main lotion being used. It’s got just a hint of grapefruit to the smell, which I love. It also leaves me perfectly moisturized! I love, love, love it!

Now, the sugar scrub. This stuff is IN.CRED.IBLE. It’s not just a rough scrub that leaves your face feeling violated. It actually is contained in some sort of oil, so you have to use a soap to wash it off. But because of the oil, it made my face feel so yummy! My skin was smooth and soft and just plain fabulous. After feeling my face, I tried it on my knees, elbows, and feet. :) Please, go get some of this and use it all over your body. You will love me for suggesting it.

Buy it!
You can purchase any of the great items from Skin Free at pretty much any Walgreens [check out this amazing BOGO deal], or you can check here.

Win it!

Fruit2Day Review and Giveaway

Fruit2Day is this super fabulous company that came up with a new way to eat fruit. I know, what else is there to do, right? I mean, we’ve been eating it the same for years and years, how else does it get eaten? Well, take a walk with me [ya know, virtually] and I’ll explain. They had this awesome idea that it would be easier to eat if it came in a handy little bottle that could be taken anywhere, anytime, without a huge mess. So, even though it’s in a bottle, how does it not make a mess? Here’s the cool part! They dice up the fruit and add it to a puree of fruit juices, so it’s kind of like a drink, but way more fun. Get it?

I got to try each of their fruit juices, and seriously, I love this stuff. Not only does it taste good, but each little bottle contains two servings of fruit! That’s half of your needed daily intake! How easy is that? AND, only 110 to 120 calories in each bottle, depending on the flavor. PLUS, NO fat! Woo! These little things are awesome. My favorite was the mango peach, but I would buy any of the flavors. They were all fantastic.

mix1 and Mother-In-Law's Manual Winners!

First. I apologize for my lack of posts yesterday. I had to leave early to get to Moms Who Make It and when I got home, if I would have posted it would have been sixteen pages of how incredible it was. Due to that, I decided to wait a tad and let the excitement wear down. :) I'll post on that later. For now, let's get to some winners!

Thanks to mix1 for sending me some samples and offering a case to give away, and thanks to the publisher for the Mother-In-Law's Manual for sending me a review copy and one to give away.

Winner of the case of mix1 is...

Upgrade?

Lately I’ve been thinking that my house needs something. I’m not really sure what yet, but something. Our house was only 2 years old when we bought it, but it is a cookie-cutter home – it’s by a popular builder who built our entire neighborhood. Luckily there is only one other house that looks similar to ours! But, I think the people that built it were trying to go cheap rather than cute, and you can tell. All of the walls are an off white, all of the fixtures are the same, nothing stands out as incredible. I’m not really big into over-decorating; in fact, it took me about a year to even get a picture on the wall. I would just like more color, new couches, maybe some new cabinets and cupboards… I want to make it pretty!

So, I’m sure by now all of you out there have heard of or seen advertising for Direct Buy. I can’t watch TV without hearing how much money they saved someone! They have a ton of locations all over the US, which I didn’t realize. They have a Direct Buy Mountain View, which is their newest location. Can I just move there? I’ll even live in a warehouse. I want to live in California. Anyway… I’ve been thinking about taking a tour of their place here in Utah [we’re deprived, we only get one]. I can’t get their commercials out of my mind about how much money people saved going through them. Have any of you ever shopped with Direct Buy? Tell me your experiences!

Today’s Farm Review and Giveaway

Today’s Farm is a brand that makes these super cool, freeze-dried fruit snacks. When I first heard of them, I thought, that’s got to be a cool treat [get it? Cool and freeze-dried? Eh?]! And until I had heard of these, I had never seen or heard of any other brand trying the freeze-drying process.

Freeze-drying is nothing like dehydrating. The biggest difference is the way it works – freeze-drying uses cold and super low pressure to basically freeze the fruit solid, though the water is still there. Dehydrating simply takes the water out of something. One of the greatest things about freeze-drying is that as long as you seal it without moisture, it can last for a long, long time! These snacks are good in their package for at least 18 months. Not bad!

I got to sample some of the freeze-dried snacks, and honestly, I love them! It’s a little bit weird, only because I’m so used to fruit being dehydrated, which still leaves it kind of soft. Freeze drying the fruit leaves it pretty crunchy, which was cool! It was like eating potato chips, only they were fruity instead of salty. :) My favorite flavor is strawberry. When they freeze dry the fruit, it tends to shrink. A lot. So much so that it takes 10 pounds of fruit to generate one pound of freeze-dried fruit! You know what that means? Each little package of these snacks is the equivalent to eating 1 ½ to 2 servings of fresh fruit. WOW! I was planning on trying some in plain yogurt, but they were too good and I ate them all before I got the chance to buy the yogurt.

Dropps Review and Giveaway

Dropps is a super cool laundry company that’s trying to minimize the effect of doing laundry on the environment. I thought I would let their site tell you about them, since the way they wrote it cracks me up. :)

The time was the early 80s. New Wave was on the radio. MTV came to cable TV. And those big chunky sweaters were all the rage. We should know, we made the chunky yarn at our very own cotton mill just outside Philadelphia. Yep, those were good times. Except of course, if you were the sweaters. Because every time we washed them, the harsh detergents and rough laundry routine made our sweet yarn all yellowed and stretchy.

What we needed was a formula that could keep fabrics looking better, longer. So we removed the enzymes to keep the fabrics vibrant and soft (and to prevent their fibers from breaking down.) The result? An innovative formula with a split personality: tough on dirt, but gentle on your favorite garments. We knew we were onto something great… but it was only the beginning!

With all the stuff we took out of this new detergent, we knew we had a small wonder on our hands. Which got us thinking, “What else can we make smaller?” Then we thought the last thing moms needed was another huge drippy, sticky jug of detergent to deal with. So we put all the cleaning power in small, convenient, dissolvable pacs. Each is pre-measured to make laundry down-right fool-proof. You just drop ‘em in the laundry. Voila! Dropps was born. An idea that proved to be so smart, the leading consumer publications (did someone say Oprah?) and moms couldn’t stop raving about us. And who doesn’t love flattery!

A funny thing happened on the way to the laundry room. We quickly discovered the whole Dropps movement is great for the planet. (Yay!) Remember, we’re phosphate-free, chlorine-free and NPE-free, too! And talk about a smaller footprint! We use less water, use way less plastic, take up less space, cost much less to ship and leave tremendously less mess in our landfills. You’ll agree… every pac counts!

And to think, we started out trying to save some clothes … and it looks like we’re helping to save something even larger.

Dropps sent me some of the fresh scent detergent, as well as the scent + dye free detergent, to try out. I’ve got to say, I loved it! The fresh scent was actually that – fresh. And the scent and dye free cleaned well without leaving any scent behind [which is kinda weird for laundry! Nice, but weird.] It was so great to just be able to drop this little teeny pac in the washer, drop the clothes in, and not worry about it. Plus, the only garbage you have to throw away is the little package they come in. How great is that for the environment?

Happy 2nd Anniversary!

I've been married for TWO years! Holy cow! Husband never ever reads this but I just wanted to say anyway, Happy Anniversary Baby! Two years of teasing relentlessly, play-fighting, going to the dunes, mustard incidents, "nut balls" in Walmart, and more never ending fun. Wub you!

I would totally post some pics from our wedding but I haven't ever taken the time to scan any in, and my photographer owns all the rights to the pictures so I can't pull any from their site. If you want to see one GIGANTIC one of me, just go into Swensen Photography - I'm on the freaking wall. Yikes.

0 to 60 Review and Giveaway

Shelly Sinclair’s life is perfect—one most women would envy—a 35 year marriage to a successful doc, two grown boys, a beautiful home and the security of predictability. Without warning, this world collapses. Her husband of a lifetime announces that he’s asked someone to marry him— a someone thirty-nine years his junior. And, oh yes, the mother of his four-year-old child.

Alone. At sixty. To start over. But maybe, just maybe this can be the best time ever...

I really, really enjoyed 0 to 60! I have ADHD [=really short attention span], and so a book has to reach out and take me by the collar in the first few pages, or I have a hard time finishing it. This book started with the storyline instantly and never lost that momentum! The opening line of the book is “I have a love child.” After an opening like that, how do you NOT keep reading? The story is entertaining and super creative. It’s not one of those books where you feel like you’ve already read an identical storyline 36 times. It’s all about taking whatever situation you get dealt and living it to the fullest. I loved it.

Fancy Fortune Cookies Review and Giveaway

Fancy Fortune Cookies is a company that specializes in, you guessed it, fortune cookies! And when I say specialize, I mean it. They offer everything from plain old vanilla, to giant fortune cookies dipped in chocolate, to flavored cookies [think orange, raspberry, etc.]. Not only that, but you can personalize the little message that comes inside of the cookie! Plus, you can get them in little take-out boxes [in any color]. How cute would it be for someone’s birthday party, to have little facts about the birthday person printed inside of the cookies, and then wrapped in the take-out boxes as favors? I think that would be darling.

I was able to review a few different flavors of their fortune cookies, and they were really cool! I’m pretty boring though – my favorites were vanilla and chocolate – but I think if you like coffee [I’m not a big fan], you would LOVE the cappuccino flavor! The Husband helped me try these and his favorite was also the Vanilla. We’re just boring. :)

I really think this would be a fun idea for a party or even any special occasion! How great would it be for someone to propose with a fortune cookie? I’ve got all sorts of ideas running through my head for uses for this!

Mini and Me Review

Mini and Me is a book aimed at kids, to help them learn healthy eating habits. It’s about a little girl and her overweight puppy, and about them getting healthy. It is really well written and definitely geared right for kids. The story is cute! It also comes with an informative guide for parents, so you can talk with your kid(s) about not only being healthy and eating right, but also about learning to accept everyone even if they look different from them.

I really enjoyed the book and thought it was well presented. Punk actually read through the whole thing. I’m really lucky in that she [mostly] chooses to eat pretty healthy. She’s like me – she LOVES her fruits and veggies. The thing I like the most is that it teaches that it’s not about being skinny, it’s about being healthy. I appreciate that they don’t focus on just losing weight. If you’ve got kids, you should get this book!

You can purchase Mini and Me on Amazon.

A Little Piece of Happy

Have you seen any of the new Trident commercials lately? Trident is trying to get the message out that even in the tough economy right now, with things not looking great, chewing a piece of Trident can give you "a little piece of happy".

I've seen a couple of these commercials on TV, and although they are pretty random, they always make me smile, which is precisely what they are supposed to do! So go to this site and check it out. There are videos [the one with the old couple is silly!], plus games, music and more. It's a pretty cool site!

I promise the site will leave you at least a tiny smidgen of happy. :)

Izze Review and Giveaway

Izze is a great company with a fantastic product! They create sparkling juice. It’s like soda, only like three thousand times better. :) Their juices are made with 70% real fruit juice [that’s more than what’s in most juices you get at the gas station], sparkling water, and natural sweeteners. No artificial sugars, no added flavors; just real, sparkling juice that’s divine.

I got to try a few of the flavors of Izze, and I can tell you that they are AMAZING. They are not too sweet, like some sodas are, and you get a real taste of what flavor you’re drinking. My favorite that I tried was the blackberry. It just had an outstanding taste! Though, I could drink a 12-pack of any of the flavors. None of them were bad at all!

Sun Review and Giveaway

Sun is a great laundry detergent company! They are one of the cheaper brands out there, but from all I’ve seen, they are not lower in quality. There is so much out there about how you get what you pay for, and the more pricey brands contain more detergent or cleaners or whatnot… Phooey. Sun got all bubbly in my washer and my clothes came out clean. Just what I look for in a laundry detergent!

I was able to review a bottle of the liquid 2x concentrated detergent. It worked just great! I would definitely buy this brand again.
